Secrets to clean bug free trash receptacles (Optimizing your Trash Juice experience)
After years of research (mostly trial and error) we have developed a cost efficient environmentally friendly product to help you keep your trash cans clean and insect free. Trash Juice is mainly used as a trash can insect repellent. Trash Juice is not a cleaner, however Trash Juice will make cleaning your bins easier. You must start with a clean and dry trash can. Spray the interior of the can liberally starting at the top of the rim and allowing the fluid to drain down too the bottom (should be a shallow pool of fluid at the bottom 1/8 inch or 3 mm) Also spray the inside of the top lid. No need to spray the outside of the can (might become sticky). Trash Juice works by vaporizing the citronella in the can (evaporation) the vapors repel the insects. In warm/hot environments this process will be a lot quicker, Trash Juice should be applied more often. We suggest a liberal coating once per week in this environment. To gauge how much to use you should always have a 1/8th (3mm) of liquid in the bottom of the can. If this becomes dried out or you cannot smell the citronella anymore apply another coating. In cooler climates, indoors, or shaded areas you can apply less frequently. Make sure your can is "sealed". Make sure the lid closes correctly and is not damaged. Any crack or an open lid will allow the vapors to escape reducing the concentration of the citronella. The oil in Trash Juice will help keep the trash can clean and trash will not stick to the inside. It's a good idea to spray the can out with a garden hose about once per month. No detergents are needed just plain water will work. Another alternative is to leave this step to your local trash can cleaning service. Just notify them to reapply Trash Juice when they are done or you can do this yourself. Trash Juice is also a good rodent/racoon repellent. We have heard reports that bears may be attracted to citronella. However, in the interest of our valued employees safety we have not tested this theory in the wilds of Alaska with citronella scented cologne. Stay tuned for more updates on this topic. Yes!, when we were in the development stage we went to great lengths to make sure our product complies with all state and local laws.
You can use our product in all waste receptacles. We personally like to treat our bathroom trash cans, our kitchen trash cans, and of course the ones you have outside or in the garage.
Trash Juice will be your best friend. Firstly we are located in Florida where bugs, rodents, and the heat will turn a trash can nasty very quickly. Lots of people in our community including us are thrilled that we now have the option to store our cans inside. Previously we refrained due to the issues listed above. By using our product you can keep your trash cans in the garage and not worry about flies infesting the place, it will even mask the ugly smells for weeks! Secondly, our natural oils will keep things from sticking to the insides of your cans making cleaning a breeze!
Trash Juice can last for weeks, including the scent! Im sure all of us are disappointed in products only smelling good for a few minutes. Trash Juice duration of action is temperature dependent, in hot climates Trash Juice should be applied weekly. Naturally in cooler climates, Trash Juice will be be effective much longer. A good rule of thumb is if you can't smell the citronella it's time to re-apply.
Trash Juice has a very plesent natural citrus scent we don't add any synthetic or imitation scents.
You can apply our product with the spray bottle it comes in or for smaller cans spray a little on a paper towel and wipe down the inside of your can. We also sell 5 gallon containers for bigger jobs and we recommend using a pump sprayer for that application.
